Dear Emotiva Family and friends,

I‘d like to take a moment to update you on the status of our eagerly anticipated UMC-1 Surround Sound Processor/Preamplifier…

As you all know, the UMC-1 is very close to full production release. We demonstrated fully operational UMC-1’s at Emofest earlier this month.  We were able to show several hundred attendees UMC-1’s operating in a home theater setting and we were also able to walk them through the details of the complete set up, control options, and menu structure in our lab, in real time, with fully operational hardware. We also had several units on hand for all to see, examine, and generally play with first hand. The positive reaction from everyone attending and experiencing the demonstrations was overwhelming to us, to say the least. Thank you!

We completely understand how anxious you are to have this product released and shipped. We have had a tremendous amount of interest in it, and we have many units on pre-order. However, we cannot in clear conscience release it to you, our clients and friends, until it is completely debugged and operating in a 100% predictable and reliable manner. To do so is unprofessional on our part and would in the end, disappoint you, our clients and friends, and mar the reputation of our company and its products. Releasing it is a hasty manner It would only damage the image of what is in all other respects is going to be an unbelievably great product.

You have my word and assurances that we are putting all of our resources into the release of this product. We have very talented and capable teams on several continents putting 100% of their efforts into finishing up the last work on this product.  You also have my word that we will only release the UMC-1 to you when it is completely solid and bug free.

We will post the production release date here and on the UMC-1 product page the moment it is ready to ship. I cannot give an exact date until I know for a fact that all operational issues are completely resolved and corrected.

In the meantime, thank you for your passionate support and continued loyalty. It is deeply appreciated by all of us at Emotiva.

Warmest regards,

Dan Laufman,
President

Emofest 2009Emofest 2009 was a great success, and we'd like to thank everyone who came out and shared it with us. We couldn't have done it without you!

Over two hundred friends joined us for fun, food, music and equipment demos on Sunday, September 6th. Many prizes were given away and amazing deals were to be found on all gear we had in stock. We truly had a wonderful time, and extend our deepest thanks to all who were a part of it.

USP-1 Preamp Reviewed at HomeTheaterHiFi.com

The Emotiva USP-1 stereo preamplifier is a delightful surprise. It performs far beyond its cost, and this is testament to the design skills of Emotiva's engineers. I also consider this a major step forward in the image that "Made in China" has. Even if the US economy were not in trouble, Emotive would sell a boatload of these preamps, and I suspect that, things being the way they are, maybe two boatloads.

June 29th, 2009

To all of our good friends,

I know all of you have been patiently and anxiously awaiting the release of the UMC-1.  We are sure you have noticed that June is quickly passing into the history books with little news regarding the release.  Fear not. We have been burning the midnight oil to meet the projected release date. Unfortunately we just ran out of time.

In an ongoing effort to keep you informed, we want to give you the latest update on where we are.  During our final testing of the video engine, we discovered a minor issue with the DCP on the HDMI.  This is really a simple fix that only requires some minor board re-work.  That particular board is being re-worked as you read this and we will be back on track very soon.

More news to follow………….

Press Release, June 5, 2009 - New Products

During a webcast recording, company President Dan Laufman stated that a small pilot run of UMC-1 Processors would be in house in June, and that mass shipment would start in July.

There has been a brief delay related to a modification of the video boards, based on HDMI ‘handshake’ issues.  It was discovered during testing that the HDMI transmitter could have issues with a small percentage of HDMI devices.  To solve this issue, the newest generation of Silicon Image HD chips are now in use, and working beautifully.  Although this was an issue that would have had a fairly minimal impact overall, Dan said he wanted to completely resolve the issue, and make sure the UMC-1 was compatible with any HDMI device.  The new chips and repeaters are completely up to date with all HD formats and requirements.
More details relating to the release of the UMC-1 will be posted here in the near future.

Also mentioned in the 06/05/09 webcast:
1. New Preamplifiers – What was thought to be a year’s inventory of RSP-2 preamps sold out in a matter of months.  Two new models were in the works, but not ready, leaving a brief hole in Emotiva’s Preamp line.
The first of the new preamps, the USP-1 (Ultra Series Preamplifier) is in transit and will be released in July, 2009. Listening to the interests of customers, company president Dan Laufman and director of product development Lonnie Vaughn designed a preamp that features a Home Theater Bypass, an enhanced Bass Management system, and many other features for the unbelievable price of $399. To preorder a USP-1, please contact beth@emotiva.com.  Preorders received before July 1st will receive the special price of $349. (USP-1 details below)

A second preamp, the XSP, which will feature fully balanced interconnects, and many more exciting features is currently in development, and will be released by the end of 2009.

2. New ‘Flagship’ Amplifier – A new, super-powered Class H amp is in development, to replace the MPS-2.  This is tentatively named the XPR-7, and will feature 7 channels, with 400 watts per channel.  No specific time frame for completion is set, but it is possible the amplifier will be released before year’s end.

Emotiva Mentioned at CNET

Emotiva's XPA-5 Shows up at CNET.com!

Steve Guttenberg's high-end audio blog, 'The Audiophiliac' recently posted 'How to: Double your home theater's power', and listed the XPA-5 as an affordable and powerful cure to the problem of low powered receivers.

"Today's receivers are jam-packed with features, but the one thing they lack is power.

In fact, most $500 receivers never come close to delivering their rated power into all channels.

Some can barely manage a third of their claimed wattage. Right now, your 100 watt per channel receiver might be pumping out only 30 something watts."

Emotiva Presents Check to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

On Tuesday, April 28th, Emotiva Audio owners Dan and Cathy Laufman presented a check for $15,000 to St. Jude Children's research hospital.

This gift was funded by the sale of 10 Limited Edition XPA-1 Amplifiers, and the staff at Emotiva thanks everyone who participated in the sale for their generosity and enthusiasm.

100% of the money collected from the sale of the XPA-1 Limited Edition Amplifiers went to St. Jude, an organization the Laufmans have supported for many years.

Emotiva plans to make the gift to St. Jude an annual event, and plans for further sales or auctions will be announced.

No place in the world does for children what St. Jude does.

• St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance. No child is denied treatment because of a family’s inability to pay.

• St. Jude’s groundbreaking development of combination therapy for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common form of childhood cancer, revolutionized leukemia therapy worldwide and increased the survival rate from 4 percent, when St. Jude opened in 1962, to 94 percent today. St. Jude’s innovative research has also led to a dramatic increase in survival rates for children with many other major forms of cancer.

• Eighty-five cents of every dollar received supports the research and treatment at St. Jude.

Audioholics.com's Official Review of Emotiva's Room at the SOTU October 2008 show.

When Emotiva goes to a show like the Audioholics State of the CE Union event, they don't pull punches. While other manufacturers might show off a new product or maybe two, Emotiva's room was FULL of product that has until now only been rumors and supposition. Excited by the idea of more amps? They had them. New processors? Check. How about bookshelf speakers, tower speakers, and a CD player? Got your attention? They sure got ours...
