I now have had your product for 2 weeks now, and I really finally got down to a good listen this Holiday weekend. All I can say is WOW!!!!!
The XPA-2 replaced my Anthem P2 Statement( which by the way is no dud in the audio world), and the XPA-3 replaced my mono block Marantz Amps for Center and Surround.
My wife, who just goes with the flow of things, made the first comment: that everything seemed to be more focused, and livelier. She then said the placement of things seemed to be more defined and not blurred. I thought," if she can hear this stuff, then there is something more going on, and I am not just imagining things."
One thing, right off the get go - I truly thought I had my sub-woofers on since I never heard my Magnepans produce so much deep bass without them snapping at a moderate level like on the Anthem. And the Anthem is a truly incredible amplifier compared to what was driving them before, which was an Acurus A250. The Maggie’s all of sudden had this authoritative bottom end and a level that was never achieved before without augmenting them with a sub-woofer.
I have owned more audio gear throughout the years than I want to think about, since the age of 13. My father used to fly RC planes with Robert Carver and Mike Forest who I became good friends with, hence I have owned practically every piece of audio gear that Phase Linear ever made prior to Bob having to sell the company before starting up Carver, and now Sunfire.
This amplifier truly delivers the goods and then some! It not only has the power but the finesse of keeping pace with the music, and keeping my Magnepans bottom end totally under control. I have pushed my speakers to limits that you would have thought cone woofers were playing the bass, not a planar speaker. I pushed these amps hard this weekend, not only in music mode but through the movie end, and U52 and Top Gun along with 2001 Space Odyssey have never sounded so powerful and emotionally involving.
People may say that you can’t compare a $700 amp to a $3000 amp such as the Anthem but YES YOU CAN!!
Frankly I was extremely nervous about selling my beloved P2, but now I can honestly say to anybody with much excitement that you better take a listen with this stuff, because there is nothing out there that can come even remotely close to what Emotiva is offering! I have placed my pre-order for your new processor and CD player and can’t wait till they arrive! I can only imagine and hope that this brings my whole system into a totally euphoric and emotionally state of bliss. Not that I haven’t shed a couple tears when playing certain things that totally moved me in a way that Anthem just didn’t. There have been things revealed by the XPA 2 that the Anthem just truly missed the mark on, and I was totally caught off guard and astounded that I had never heard them before.
Thank you for bringing products of high caliber to a niche market (where previously) only the people with money to burn could afford this type of audio quality.
My wife and I are still laughing thinking, "What has Emotiva done to this market?" Classe’, McIntosh, Krell, Anthem etc...look what you have done to them! I hope they are out there listening and taking really good notes and saying “HOLY CRAP BATMAN what now?". There is a new kid on the block, and Emotiva has my business. They should have a lot more coming shortly once everyone realizes that this stuff is not only good, but a truly fantastic product with great customer support.
