If you’ve ever had to connect an HDMI source, like your home theater preamp/processor, to a monitor or projector all the way across a large room, you may have run into a few problems. Long HDMI cables can be expensive and unwieldy, and even the best quality regular HDMI cables may become unreliable if they’re too long, especially with the latest 4k video formats. There are a few specialty cables available that work over longer distances, but they are extremely expensive, and may have compatibility issues with your equipment.

The HDMI HDBaseT Signal Extender provides a practical and cost effective solution to this problem. The HDMI HDBaseT Signal Extender replaces your old HDMI cable with a pair of small modules, connected together by a high-speed network data cable. The HDMI HDBaseT Signal Extender enables you to transmit HDMI signals over much longer distances than standard HDMI cables, with perfect video and audio quality; and, even better, the Cat6 UTP network cable you use to connect the two modules is both readily available and very inexpensive. As an added bonus, the HDMI HDBaseT Signal Extender also lets you send the electrical signals for your IR and RS-232 remote controls over the same wire.

Full Support for HDMI 2.0b Video, Audio, and Remote Control Signals

The HDMI HDBaseT Signal Extender consists of two small devices, a transmitter and a receiver, which are located near your source and sink devices, and connected together using standard unshielded twisted pair network cable. Any standard HDMI 2.0b compatible video signal input into the transmitter is output from the receiver with virtually no loss in quality. In addition, IR remote control signals are passed in both directions, allowing an IR remote control used at either location to control devices at the other end, and a separate connection is provided for passing standard RS-232 control information in both directions as well.
