True Audiophile Sound Quality
Designed to deliver superb sound quality, this system features multiple audio processing modes, including pure analog Reference Stereo, and supports PCM digital audio via HDMI and USB up to 24/192k, as well as native stereo and multi-channel DSD via HDMI. It boasts a fully balanced Reference Stereo signal path, a dedicated 7.1 channel pure analog input, and hardware-based ASRCs for exceptional jitter immunity. Audiophile-grade components include 24/192k Burr Brown DSD1796 DACs, a Burr-Brown PCM4202 ADC for precise 24-bit analog-to-digital conversion, and digitally controlled analog ladder network volume controls with 0.5 dB resolution. Additional features include a high-performance digital AM/FM tuner with RDS text display and a built-in digital signal strength meter.
Flexible Audio Input And Output Options
This system supports a wide range of audio sources, including HDMI, analog audio, AM/FM radio, digital S/PDIF, USB PCM up to 24/192k, and native DSD in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. It offers independent audio input selection for each video input, allowing users to pair any audio source with any video input or temporarily listen to audio-only sources while watching video. Additional features include a second audio zone with separate DACs and source selection, a Mix Output providing an analog mix-down of the Main Zone audio, and true Tape Monitor inputs and outputs for external analog devices.
Flexible Audio Control Options
The system supports mono, stereo, or dual-mono subwoofers with independent level, distance, room correction, and EQ settings, along with advanced bass management featuring fully independent crossover settings for each speaker group. It includes two independent 11-band manual parametric EQ settings, global bass and treble controls with user-selectable turnover points, true Fletcher-Munson loudness compensation, and selectable dynamic range control for precise audio customization.
Support For Surround Sound Audio Modes
The XMC-1 automatically detects the encoding of each audio source and selects the optimal decoding mode, adapting the audio to your system configuration by down-mixing for fewer speakers or synthesizing additional channels for more. All automatic processes can be manually overridden, and default modes reconfigured to match your preferences. It supports a wide range of 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound formats, including Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio, and PCM-Multi, as well as digital post-processing modes like Dolby Pro Logic IIx and DTS ES Matrix.
Fast Video Switching
The XMC-1 offers full HDMI 2.0b and HDCP 2.2 support with 18 Gbps video bandwidth across all eight HDMI inputs and both outputs, enabling 4K/60 video with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling, 12-bit color, HDR (including dynamic HDR and Dolby Vision), and 3D. It supports ARC and CEC on the primary output and functions as a pure video switch, routing video inputs directly to outputs without unnecessary processing using three Panasonic MN864788 high-speed 4K UHD video switches. Its unique Video On Standby option allows audio and video to pass through to the display even when the unit is off, perfect for standalone TV use.
Act TWO: The legacy of the XMC-1 lives on in our certified refurbished program.
We think products can be repurposed and reused for more than one lifecycle, and that is why we came up with an incredible second life for our legacy XMC-1, 7.2 channel preamp processor. When XMC-1s are traded in by customers for our newer Atmos based processors, they still have many years of service life left in them for use in movie and music systems. In light of that, we've created a new recycling protocol where we carefully inspect, refurbished, update, and renew XMC-1s. By giving the XMC-1 an Act Two (movie reference since we're home theater geeks), we've found a way to be more sustainable and eco-friendly, while at the same time provide customers another incredible audiophile-quality AV preamp processor choice.
The XMC-1 is a rock-solid AV Preamp/processor that offers incredible fidelity and modern connectivity. All certified XMC-1s feature our latest 18 GHz, 4k UHD HDMI video switching with support for Dolby Vision, HDR, HDCP 2.2, dual outputs.
One of our favorite applications is to use the XMC-1 as the heart of a high-end 2.0, 2.1, or better yet, 2.2 stereo system! The XMC-1's two-channel performance is legendary, and it's worth buying one for this application alone. It features a balanced and fully differential stereo signal path with amazingly low noise and distortion and is on-par with the very best two-channel gear available today. The XMC-1 also has a USB DAC, DSD support over USB and HDMI, extensive digital and analog input and outputs, HDMI signal management, sophisticated bass management, and extensive parametric EQ. If you've been looking to build an advanced two-channel system that honors pure analog performance but has the tools and capabilities to also integrate into the modern, digital world, this is a no brainer. In terms of value, fidelity, and advanced ability, the XMC-1 remains unmatched and is in a class of its own.
Our new XMC-1's have a unique Certified Refurbished distinction, are in perfect working order, appear nearly new, come with all accessories, and a non-transferable factory 1-year warranty. We can offer this program because all of our flagship preamp processors are designed and assembled with great care in-house.
Redefining Home Theater
The XMC-1 redefines everything you know about home theater equipment; great audio performance doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg, and neither does support for the latest cutting-edge 4k video formats. The advanced audio circuitry in the XMC-1 delivers the superb sound quality of a premium separate audiophile component; the high-performance video switching circuitry supports the latest 4k UHD and HDR video formats, and the powerful menu and control system ties it all together into one easy to use system. The XMC-1 is designed, tested, and assembled right here in the USA, at our facility in Franklin, Tennessee.
Operating Modes for the Discerning Listener:
When used as a fully featured home theater processor, the XMC-1 starts by decoding the audio from your movie soundtracks and surround sound discs with the best possible sound quality. Sophisticated bass management directs the low-frequency components of the audio spectrum to your subwoofer. This finely tuned digital audio is then converted into high-quality analog audio by precision DACs and sent to your amplifiers - via a high-quality analog ladder network volume control and audiophile grade analog circuitry.
If you listen to high-resolution audio downloads or other high-quality music sources which don't require all of that advanced processing, the XMC-1 offers several purist audiophile modes. High-quality digital sources, both PCM and DSD, can be converted directly to analog by the precision high-performance DACs, bypassing all of the more advanced processing. And, if you have analog sources which don't require any processing at all, they can be routed directly to the superb quality fully balanced analog signal path, bypassing all digital processing.
Support For The Latest Audio and Video Formats
Home theater video is continually evolving to deliver a sharper picture, more colors, and more advanced features - which can make it difficult to keep track of what you actually need to take advantage of the latest video content and this year's 4k displays. The XMC-1 has eight HDMI video inputs and two HDMI video outputs, all of which support HDMI 2.0b and HDCP 2.2. The XMC-1 supports the full HDMI 2.0b 18 gBps video data rate, so it supports full 4k UHD video, at frame rates up to 4k/60, with full 12-bit color, and 4.4.4 chroma subsampling. It also supports static and dynamic HDR, including Dolby Vision, for a brilliant picture, with pure, intense colors, and remarkable contrast. The XMC-1 provides everything you need to get the most from the latest streaming content and 4k UHD Blu-Ray discs.

Advanced Menu System And Configuration Options
Modern home theater systems can be very complex. To make the XMC-1 powerful and flexible, yet simple to configure and operate, we developed our own custom menu and control system. Frequently used options are easy to find and access, more in-depth options are arranged logically, and the current status is always clearly displayed on the informative front panel display and the highly configurable on-screen display. The XMC-1 can be controlled from the front panel, from its iconic solid metal remote control, or using the handy remote control App, which is available for Apple and Windows computers, and Android phones. The XMC-1 can also be integrated into most universal remote and whole-home control systems.
