Reinventing a Classic
There are several different models in the new XPA family of power amplifiers, offering you the unique opportunity to personalize your new amplifier to exactly the configuration you need for your stereo or surround sound audio system.
Each XPA amplifier starts with a heavy duty steel chassis. This chassis houses the massive switch mode power supply, the protection and control circuitry, and the amplifier modules. Displayed on the front panel are status LEDs for each channel, and the large illuminated Standby Power button. There are two different versions of the chassis, both perfectly matched on the outside, but containing slightly different versions of the power supply, each optimized for the combination of amplifier modules the chassis is populated with.
Our new XPA amplifiers all feature a fully modular design; just choose exactly the number and type of channels you need when you purchase your XPA amplifier. You can then have more modules and channels added later, up to the maximum, simply by sending your amp in to Emotiva for an upgrade.
We currently offer three different types of modules for our new XPA amplifiers:
- The standard 300 watt “Mono module”
- The 2 x 75 watt “Stereo module”
- The 600 watt fully-differential “DR module”
Each of our standard XPA amplifier chassis can be populated with anywhere between two and seven modules, which can be any combination of 300 watt Mono modules and 2 x 75 watt Stereo modules.
Each of our XPA-DR chassis can be configured with one, two, or three XPA-DR modules.
A single chassis can be configured with anywhere between one channel at 600 watts fourteen channels at 75 watts each…
And, by combining two or more chassis into a complete system, a virtually endless number of channel combinations and options are possible.

300 Watt mono module for XPA Amps
The 300 watt High-Powered Single Channel Amplifier “Mono” Module is a fully discrete, dual differential, high current, short signal path Class A/B amplifier module, featuring Optimized Class H power supply topology, audiophile grade input connectors and speaker terminals, and microprocessor control fault protection. This module may be used in the same chassis as the “Stereo” modules to help meet your system channel requirements.
STEREO MODULE
2x75 Watt Stereo module for XPA Amps
The 2 x 75 watt “Stereo” module is a two-channel, fully discrete, dual differential, high current, short signal path Class A/B amplifier module, featuring audiophile grade input connectors and speaker terminals, and microprocessor controlled fault protection. The “Stereo” Amplifier Module provides two completely independent amplifier channels in a module that occupies a single slot. The “Stereo” modules may be used in the same chasses as the “Mono” modules to help meet your system channel requirements.

600 Watt mono module for XPA DR Amps
The 600 watt “DR” module is a very high powered Differential Reference™, fully discrete, fully differential, fully balanced, high current, short signal path Class A/B amplifier, featuring Optimized Class H power supply topology, audiophile grade input connectors and speaker terminals, and microprocessor controlled fault protection. Each “DR” Differential Reference™ Amplifier module consists of two complete signal paths, one for each phase of the audio signal, in a fully symmetrical balanced configuration, and occupies two module slots in the XPA chassis. These “DR” modules CANNOT be mixed and matched with the “Mono” or “Stereo” modules.

The Power Supply: The Foundation Of A Great Amplifier
In amplifier design, everything starts with the power supply. Our new Third Generation XPA amplifiers all feature our new exclusive high-current switch mode power supply (SMPS), which offers all of the dynamic attributes of a classic transformer-based design, with none of the drawbacks. Like the best transformer-based power supplies, our SMPS delivers plenty of continuous power to enable our amplifier modules to live up to their full performance potential, and plenty of dynamic power to ensure that musical peaks will never be compressed or limited. This advanced powerhouse is capable of delivering over 3 kW of continuous fully regulated power, with absolute reliability and extremely high efficiency, assuring absolute optimum amplifier performance under a wide variety of operating conditions. In addition to performing far better than older more traditional designs, our new SMPS has allowed us to lower the overall weight of our new amplifiers by over 30%, reducing shipping costs and easing mounting requirements.
