Firmware 2036 Is Here for the LXP-16 and LXR-11!

Firmware 2036 is now available for the LXP-16 Processor and LXR-11 Receiver, with cleaner USB-C audio, corrected analog levels, and improvements across the whole system.

This full release brings together all of our work on bass management, Dirac Live, height speakers, HDMI control and everyday reliability. Whichever version you're on today, updating to 2036 gets you everything listed here.

Note:

Before you begin, note your current version under Information → Firmware Ver. so you can confirm the changes afterward. Do not turn off or disconnect power during the update.

Update over Wi-Fi or Ethernet

  1. Connect the unit to the internet using Ethernet or the app’s Wi-Fi setup instructions.
  2. Go to System Setup → Advanced → OTA Update and select Immediately.
  3. Turn the rear-panel power switch off, wait 10 seconds, then switch it back on. Press the front-panel power button to start the unit.
  4. The update should begin automatically about one minute after the startup screen disappears. Let it finish and allow the unit to reboot.
  5. Check Information → Firmware Ver. to confirm the version has changed.

You can then set OTA Update to Notify Only, if preferred. You can also use this menu to check for and install future updates.

Update by USB

Download the latest firmware here

  1. Open the downloaded ZIP file, then open the folder matching your model: LXP-16 or LXR-11.
  2. Copy software.swu file directly onto your USB thumb drive. Do not place it inside a folder.
  3. Insert the drive into the unit’s USB-A port.
  4. Go to System Setup → Advanced → USB Update Check and select Yes when prompted.
  5. Let the update finish and allow the unit to reboot. Check Information → Firmware Ver. to confirm the version has changed.

What's new in 2036

The newest build adds two fixes on top of everything else in this release:

  • Cleaner USB-C audio: We've fixed the distortion that could affect audio over USB-C.

  • Correct analog levels in Reference-ST mode:
Analog inputs no longer play 6 dB too loud in this mode.

What you may notice after updating

A few changes affect levels and setup, so it's worth checking these once you've updated:

  • Subwoofer levels: Output is now reduced by 4.5 dB with two subwoofers, 7 dB with three, and 9 dB with four. On the LXR-11, we've also restored 3 dB of subwoofer output that was missing. Systems set to Global - All Large no longer run the subwoofer 5 dB too high. If your bass sounds different, check your subwoofer levels.

  • Height speaker setup: The way you set height speaker type and number has changed, and the menus have been updated to match. The number of height speakers can no longer exceed the number of main speakers.

  • Dolby Enabled speakers: Distance is now calculated differently. The distance menu adds room height and Dolby speaker height settings, which appear only if you have Dolby Enabled speakers.

  • Test tones:
The speaker level test tone is now Dolby Pink noise, and the subwoofer test tone is 10 dB lower. Turning on a test tone with the volume above 40 brings the volume back to 40.

  • Speaker trims:
Trims now reset to 0 when the unit goes into standby.

  • Menus:
Some items have moved from the Quick menu to the Preferences menu.

Housekeeping and performance updates

Firmware 2036 also includes a large batch of housekeeping fixes and performance updates across the system. Together, they make for a smoother, more reliable everyday experience.
