High-performance phono preamp that supports both moving coil and moving magnet cartridges.
Low cost makes this a great choice if you have multiple turntables.
All-metal case for durability and resistance to induced hum.
Compact form factor with separate AC power supply (included)
The Emotiva PH1 is a compact high-performance phono preamp that offers excellent technical performance and superb sound quality at a very affordable price.
The PH1 makes it simple to add support for one or more turntables to your preamp, pre/pro, or AVR. The PH1 accepts the direct input from your Moving Magnet (MM) or Moving Coil (MC) phono cartridge, applies precise RIAA equalization, and delivers the resulting signal to one of the line level inputs on your preamp or AVR. And, if you need more phono inputs, simply add another PH1.
Flexible Connectivity
The inputs on the PH1 feature gold-plated RCA connectors which match perfectly with standard audio interconnects, or with the permanently attached cables found on many turntables, and the PH1 includes a ground terminal if your turntable has a separate ground wire. The PH1 has standard line level unbalanced outputs which can be connected directly to one pair of the Aux or CD inputs on most preamps or AVRs.
Plug and Play Simplicity
Moving Magnet cartridges are terminated with the industry standard load of 47k Ohms, and Moving Coil cartridges with a 100 Ohm load, which is the value most often recommended by manufacturers of MC cartridges. A simple pushbutton selects between Moving Magnet and Moving Coil operation and a front panel LED shows which you have selected. Power to run the PH1 is provided by the included low noise precision AC adapter.
Sound Quality and Technical Performance
The most important aspect of any phono preamp is its ability to transfer the audio signal from the surface of your vinyl, through the cartridge, to the input of your system. It needs to do this with precision and finesse, preserving every nuance of the original analog signal, without adding audible noise or distortion. The PH1 won’t let you down in this regard, with both tech specs and sound quality far above what you might expect from its modest price tag.
Buy one for each of your turntables—you won’t regret it.
