Product Overview

Four channels goes farther than you think.

The BasX A4+ Four-Channel Power Amplifier adds dedicated power to four speakers in your system. Perfect for taking the load off your receiver or adding channels to your processor to handle your surround or height channels. The A4+ is rated at 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20 Hz to 20 kHz). Effects stay sharp and loud scenes stay smooth.

Inside, a linear power supply with a heavy duty toroidal transformer feeds an audiophile-quality Class A/B output stage. That is the foundation for clean, stable power.

The major BasX Plus upgrade is connectivity. The A4+ adds balanced XLR inputs on every channel, along with standard RCA. Use XLR when your gear supports it for a lower-noise connection. Use RCA when it does not. To set up, connect the A4+ to an AV processor, a preamp, or an AVR with preamp outputs, the jacks labeled “PRE OUT.” Then wire your speakers to the audiophile grade 5-way binding posts. Add 12V trigger in and out for automatic power-up. Built-in protection guards against common fault conditions. The A4+ is rated for 8 ohm speakers and supports 4 ohm operation.

Common uses:
• Add power to four height channels in an Atmos or DTS:X system
• Upgrade an AVR by powering key channels through PRE OUTs for more headroom and control
• Power a second zone or bi-amp a pair of speakers.

Five-way binding posts accept banana plugs, spades, or bare wire. A 5 to 12 V trigger input (AC or DC) and a 12 V trigger output simplify power control. It slots neatly into a rack-based setup.

FAQ

The A4+ is a four-channel power amplifier that adds clean, dedicated power to four speakers in your system. It is commonly used to power Atmos height channels, surround channels, Zone 2 speakers, or to bi-amp a pair of speakers (when your speakers and preamp/processor support bi-amping).

It will work if your receiver has preamp outputs, the jacks labeled “PRE OUT.” You connect those outputs to the A4+ using XLR or RCA cables, and the A4+ powers your speakers. If your receiver does not have PRE OUT jacks, you generally cannot add an external power amp like the A4+ in the normal way.

The big upgrade in the BasX Plus generation is balanced XLR inputs on every channel, in addition to standard RCA. That gives you more connection options, and can help lower noise when used with compatible gear.

Use XLR if your preamp, processor, or AVR has balanced outputs. Balanced connections can help reduce hum and noise pickup, especially with longer cable runs. Use RCA if your gear only has RCA preamp outputs. Both options are built in on every channel.

The A4+ is rated at 100 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. It also supports 4 ohm operation, and provides higher output into 4 ohms under the published rating conditions.

Yes. The A4+ is rated for 8 ohm speakers and supports 4 ohm operation. As with any amp, make sure your speakers are wired correctly and give the amplifier proper ventilation.

In many systems, yes, as long as your speakers have separate binding posts for bi-amping and your processor or preamp can provide the correct signals to feed two channels per speaker. If you are unsure, our support team can help you confirm the right setup.

Yes. It includes a trigger input (5 to 12 V, AC or DC) and a 12 V trigger output. When connected to a compatible preamp, processor, or AVR, it can power on and off automatically.

The A4+ uses audiophile grade 5-way binding posts. They accept banana plugs, spade lugs, or bare wire.

Like most Class A/B amplifiers, it can generate substantial heat during extended high-power use. Make sure the vents are not blocked and allow adequate space around the amplifier for airflow.
