Emotiva Nostala FT12 subwoofer with a wood-grain cabinet and a black control panel, shown on a plain white background.

Product Overview

Feel The Groove.

The best musical rhythm sections don’t just fill the room, they charge it. The Nostala FT12 music and cinema subwoofer brings that physical weight and impact back into your music. The deep strum of a bass guitar and the impact of the kick drum hit you in the chest, right where it belongs. Speed, pace, tonality... this is not a one note wonder.

Designed and built as a modern reimagining of a classic 12" ported subwoofer, the FT12 pairs retro-style with serious low-end control and output. A high-excursion pressed paper cone woofer in a die cast frame with a massive motor structure, an 800W RMS Class-D amplifier, large dual flared front ports, and 56-bit DSP-based front end with an Automatic Room Correction engine  work together to deliver clean, musical bass that fits your room, not just the spec. sheet.

Finished on all sides with genuine natural grain walnut veneer, with beige and neutral grey magnetic grills included, the FT12 looks right at home beside the Nostala LB12s or any classic system that deserves a little more soul, down low.

Vintage Style, Real Walnut Finish

The FT12 carries the vintage Nostala Collection spirit, with hand-laid walnut wood veneer on every surface, including the front and rear panels. It includes a die-cast solid metal Emotiva badge, permanently attached wooden feet with rubber isolators, and two beautiful magnetically attached grills in beige and neutral grey.

A 12-Inch Woofer You Can Feel

Bass is where the music gets physical. The FT12 uses a 12" high-excursion pressed paper cone woofer with a die-cast aluminum frame, NBR surround, variable rate suspension, and a 65.5 mm 4-layer CCA voice coil on a fiberglass former. A massive 156 x 40 mm high energy magnet with an aluminum shorting ring helps keep distortion low, so the bass has weight while staying composed.

Power for the Low Notes

The FT12 is driven by a highly efficient 800W RMS Class-D amplifier with very high headroom, giving the 12" woofer the power it needs to dig deep and stay composed. It is built for the moments you don’t just hear: the kick drum, the floor tom, the bass line, the low-end swell that moves your soul.

Bass That Fits Your Room

Rooms can make bass tricky, so the FT12 includes internal 56-bit DSP-based Automatic Room Correction engine and a precision calibrated microphone. With its built-in test tones and frequency sweeps, the FT12 can adjust its response to your listening space, helping you get bass that sounds tighter, smoother, and better blended with your system. One touch is all it takes, no complicated software or computer interface needed!

FAQ

The FT12 can be used in both stereo and home theater systems. It includes balanced XLR mono input, unbalanced RCA mono input, unbalanced left/right RCA line-level inputs, and speaker-level left/right inputs, so it can connect to a wide range of preamps, processors, receivers, and amplifiers

Yes. If your receiver, processor, or preamp has a summed subwoofer or LFE output, you can connect it to the FT12 using either the balanced XLR mono input or the unbalanced RCA mono input, depending on your equipment.

Yes. The FT12 includes unbalanced left/right line-level inputs, which are summed at the input of the subwoofer. It also includes speaker-level inputs, so it can be connected to the speaker outputs of an amplifier or receiver when your system does not have a dedicated subwoofer output.

Yes. The FT12 includes internal 56-bit DSP-based Automatic Room Correction and comes with a calibrated microphone. The system uses built-in test tones and measurements from the included microphone to help calibrate the subwoofer for more accurate response in your room.

Good subwoofer placement depends on your room, your main speakers, and where the subwoofer physically fits. Common locations include between the front speakers, in a front or rear corner, or along a side or rear wall. For best results, choose a practical location, then run the FT12’s Automatic Room Correction before making final manual adjustments.

A properly configured subwoofer should add depth, weight, and foundation without calling attention to itself as a separate sound source. You should feel the low bass filling the listening area, but you should not be able to easily locate the subwoofer by ear.

The FT12 includes volume, crossover frequency, and phase controls, along with a Cal/Preset button for Automatic Room Correction and an Auto/On power mode switch. If you are using bass management from a receiver or processor, the manual recommends setting the FT12 crossover frequency control to its highest setting and then following your source device’s setup process.

The FT12 has a specified frequency response of 25 Hz to 150 Hz ±3 dB and a peak in-room measured output of 117.5 dB SPL at 40 Hz. It is powered by an efficient 800W RMS Class-D amplifier and uses dual flared front ports for bass response and damping.

The Nostala FT12 is covered by Emotiva’s Ten-Year Limited Warranty on the speaker driver and cabinet, and a five-year warranty on the electronic components. Coverage applies to the original owner and begins on the date of reception.
